More parking created on William St, Randwick as part of light rail parking recovery plan

February 18, 2016

Parking on William St, Randwick has changed from parallel to angle parking, creating 18 additional parking spaces as part of Randwick City Council’s parking recovery plan.

The change came into effect on Wednesday 17 February and is part of Council's ongoing plan to create more onstreet parking spaces in areas close to the light rail route where parking is being removed because of construction.

Council consulted with local residents about the proposed changes in December and January. Residents broadly supported the changes, saying parking was already difficult in the area.

New islands and planting areas will also be installed at the intersections in the future.

Transport for NSW has commenced light rail construction works this week on nearby Alison Rd resulting in the loss of some parking.

For further information about Council's parking recovery plan contact Council’s Transport Engineer Darren Price on 1300 722 542 or email council@randwick.nsw.gov.au or visit www.yoursayrandwick.com.au/parking.
